St Canice day and Columbas Day - an interesting connection

The Cathedral where my cousin Melo was buried is called St Canice. It is tiny as cathedrals go and in the heart of the remote Irish country-side. On the way back I cadged a lift to Dublin with a couple of friends and we got to wondering who St Canice was. None of us knew so I decided to find out.

It turns out that he is commemorated on the 11th October, today. 

Interesting considering it is also Columbas Day in the US.

The angels move the stars around.

Everything seems bland.
The grey day outside replaces the morning sunshine.
There is no wonder.
It was going to happen sometime.
Tears as the sporadic memories condense
into a strange and inexplicable oasis of spirit.
Signs or imaginings start to become clear
skepticism remains yet holds itself at bay
... for now.
The heart clears space for peace to enter.
Solace.
